RE: The tariff classification of Hydrocortisone Butyrate in bulk form, from Italy

Dear Ms. Addabbo:

In your letter dated July 28, 2010, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The subject product, Hydrocortisone Butyrate, is a non-fluorinated hydrocortisone ester. It is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses and seborrheic dermatitis.

The applicable subheading for the hydrocortisone butyrate in bulk form will be 2937.29.9020, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, natural or reproduced by synthesis; derivatives and structural analogues thereof, including chain modified polypeptides, used primarily as hormones: Other: Other: Salts and esters of hydrocortisone.” The rate of duty will be free.
